The town of Holbrook provides biweekly curbside recycling for

paper, cardboard, plastics, cans and bottles at no charge 

Materials Accepted Curbside:

  • Paper
    • Newspaper with inserts
    • Magazines/catalogues
    • Phone books
    • Junk Mail
    • Office Paper
    • Clean paperboard (i.e. cereal boxes)
    • Corrugated cardboard - please flatten, fold to 30"x30", and tie
    • No soiled paper or plastic bags
  • Containers - rinse clean
    • Glass bottles & jars -  Rinse, remove lids.  Labels may stay on; No broken or other glass, such as light bulbs, window or auto glass, dishes, glasses, or Pyrex
    • Metal food and beverage cans - Labels do not need to be removed; No aerosol or paint cans
    • Rigid plastic containers - Must have a symbol (any number). Rinse, remove caps. No styrofoam, bags, toys, motor oil or chemical containers

Recycling Bins:  Available at Collector's Office, Town Hall for $6 each. 

Yard Waste curbside pick up the following Saturdays: May 10,  December 6, December 13, 2008

  • . Must be in paper bags, boxes or labeled barrels

Special Items picked up weeks of June 2 and November 3, 2008:

  • Furniture, appliances, air conditioners, lawn mowers (drain fluids), grills (without propane tank)
  • LIMIT 2/household
All non-recyclable trash set out for disposal must be in a special bag,

10-15 gallon bags: $8.50;     10- 30 gallon bags:$16.00.

This covers the cost of disposal.

Recycling service is provided at no charge.

Books are collected by Hands Across the Water in a secure container at the Holbrook Junior-Senior High school at 245 Franklin St.  Call Frank Yalochuk at 781-767-1226 for access information.  encyclopedias, textbooks and literature are sent to developing countries for educational purposes.

Hazardous materials such as paint, pesticides, chemicals and automotive fluids:  Hazardous Waste

To dispose of the following materials (some for a fee):

  •  Propane tanks: Bring to a retailer that sells propane
  • White goods (stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc) :

  •  Bulky Waste, Construction debris:

    • Waste Management, 1 Incinerator Rd., Dedham, Mon-Fri, 7:30-4, Sat. 7:30-11:30, $128/ton, minimum charge $64, 781-326-1390

    • BFI Transfer Station, 250 Beaver Dam Rd. , Plymouth Tu, Th, Sat, Sun 8-4,  $6/100 lbs.

  •  Tires: Bring to a retailer that sells tires, such as Sullivan Tire
  •  Auto batteries: Bring to a retailer or auto service station
  •  Motor oil, automotive fluids: Bring to HHP collection
  •  Rechargeable batteries: Most hardware retailers have recycling collection containers
  •  Televisions and electronics:
